"HOLE" T

In 1893, a group of American businessmen illegally overthrew the Hawaiian Kingdom. Following the overthrow, they monopolized pineapple production across the islands, cultivating a plant not native to Hawaiʻi. Today, pineapples are often synonymous with Hawaiʻi, a misconception rooted in colonization and its lasting economic and cultural impact.

This T-shirt, crafted from breathable 100% cotton, humorously challenges those misconceptions. “HOLE” serves as a tongue-in-cheek reminder of that history, while the orchid lei print—another non-native element widely commercialized in Hawaiʻi—symbolizes how colonial influence continues to shape what’s “seen” as Hawaiian.

“HOLE” invites conversation and reflection through humor, reclaiming narrative and redefining authenticity in modern Hawaiʻi.
